Ukraine’s Parliament sends bill on abolishing of lawyers’ monopoly to Constitutional Court

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine sent the presidential draft amendment to the main law #1013 on the abolishing of the lawyers’ monopoly to the Constitutional Court for the conclusion. 337 MPs supported the decision, as 112 Ukraine reported.

The draft law offers to withdraw the norm article 131-2 from the Constitution. According to it, “the only lawyer represents another person in the court and defense from the prosecution” and list of the exceptions to this rule.

On September 3, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine finally amended the Constitution and restricted the immunity of the MPs. 373 lawmakers voted for the bill #7203.

Earlier, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to draw up a bill on the land market by October and entrusted the Verkhovna Rada to adopt it and lift the moratorium on agricultural land sale by December 2019.

Zelensky offered to provide people with the right of the legislative initiative and enshrine the proper regulation in the Constitution. The bill #1015 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
