Ukraine's parliament does not allow to prosecute MP Berezkin

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine did not agree on the prosecution of the Member of Parliament from People’s Will Party Stanislav Berezkin. Only 160 lawmakers supported the decision as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.

According to the investigation of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), the MP could be involved in the organization of the embezzlement of $20 million from Oschadbank.

“The investigation held by NABU and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) perceives the signs of the criminal offense committed by the lawmaker Berezkin under the articles on the embezzlement, money-laundering, abuse, and forgery,” Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko claimed.

On November 7, Lutsenko officially asked Ukrainian Parliament for authorization to bring to justice, detain, and arrest a member of Parliament Stanislav Berezkin

Solomiansky Court of Kyiv arrested Maksym Berezkin, son of MP Stanislav Berezkin. He is suspected of the embezzlement of $20 million of Ukraine's state-run Oschadbank funds.

On October 23, under the procedural control of Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office prosecutors, National Anti-Corruption Bureau detectives detained ten people who were served with charge papers concerning embezzling $20 million of Oshchadbank.
