Ukrainian ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova asks her Russian colleague Tatiana Moskalkova to provide the holding of the thorough medical examination of Crimean Tatar Alim Karimov kept in the remand center of Rostov Oblast, Russia as Denisova reported on Facebook.

According to Ukrainian ombudsman, Karimov has got tonsillitis, resulting in 39,5º fever for three days.

“However, despite the health issues, the medical workers do not provide the citizen of Ukraine with proper assistance and the administration of the penal institution does not provide the possibility of receiving of medication by him,” Denisova reported.

She underlined that it contradicts the guaranteed norms of article 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and point 22 of the UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners.

“That is why I ask Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova to assume measures urgently to restore the rights of the citizen of Ukraine, particularly, to provide the holding of the thorough medical examination and provision of the qualified treatment,” the ombudsman said.

Alim Karimov was illegally detained by the Russian law enforcers in Hizb ut-Tahrir case on March 27, 2019.
