The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has prepared a package of sanctions against Belarusian officials. The corresponding package has already been submitted to the National Security and Defense Council. This was announced by Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Yenin.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has prepared an appropriate sanctions package, which has been submitted to the NSDC for consideration. We hope that in the near future this package will be considered and a presidential decree will become a consequence of these decisions," Yenin said.
According to him, the sanctions will affect the representatives of the Belarusian regime, "who took part in the falsification of the presidential elections or were involved in the repression of civilians."
As it was reported, on May 23, the founder of the largest opposition telegram channel of Belarus NEXTA, journalist Roman Protasevich, was detained in Minsk. The plane with Roman Protasevich on board flew from Athens to Vilnius. Suddenly, the plane gave a distress signal, changed course, and made an emergency landing at the Minsk National Airport. The emergency landing was caused by a mining signal.
