"We express solidarity with German, Swedish & Polish diplomats expelled by Russia on spurious grounds," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said on Twitter.

Ukrainian diplomacy notes that Russia's decision is contrary to the Vienna Convention and is yet another example of Russia brutally breaching its obligations under international law.

Earlier, Russia expelled three EU diplomats — from Germany, Poland and Sweden for participating in unauthorized protests on January 23.

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell has called on Russia to reconsider its decision.
