The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine asked the Russian side to clarify whether it is interested in holding the next session of the Normandy Summit at the level of leaders. This statement was made by the Ministry on September 15, given the comment of Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko to RIA Novosti on the prospects of holding the Normandy Summit.
"Inadequately diplomatic and rather emotional comment of the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation requires additional clarifications of the position of the Russian side to both members of the Normandy format and the international community," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Ukrainian diplomats said that if Rudenko's statement was a clear signal that the Kremlin was not fundamentally interested in holding a summit of the Normandy Format leaders, it questioned the Russian Federation's willingness to resolve the conflict.
As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the new meeting of the advisers of the leaders of Normandy Format countries would take place in the following ten days.
