Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine decided to boost the work of units in the Azov and Black Sea region. The press office of the Ministry reported that on Monday, April 22.
'Ukraine is a maritime country. It has the longest coastline among the countries of Azov and Black Sea region (2759.2 km) and over 72,000 square kilometers of the exclusive maritime economic zone. This is why we boost the work of the Ministry's units in this sector, creating the unified security system, which will comprise of members of the State Border Guard, the National Guard and the National Police'. Vadym Troyan, the Deputy Minister said so at a briefing in Kyiv.
The security system will be reinforced by the Ministry's aviation safety units and the civil defense units. It will be the new mechanism of monitoring and operative response, mobile groups and exchange of information.
Troyan noted that Ukraine has reliable partners in terms of protection of the coastline, namely the U.S. Coast Guard, Turkey, the EU, the Baltic States and Frontex, the EU authority responsible for the protection of EU external borders.
