Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin will participate in the session of the EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs, where the Russian aggression in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea will be discussed. Klimkin received the proper invitation after the meeting with Federica Mogherini, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
“We start in Milan, on the occasion of the ministerial session of the OSCE. We have started from the friendly talk with Federica Mogherini. I got the invitation for the meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers that will take place next Monday. We will discuss how to jointly prevent the attempts of the Russian Federation to destabilize Ukraine and Europe,” Klimkin wrote on Twitter.
Later, the press service of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry reported that Ukrainian minister mentioned the detailed evidence of the planned act of the aggression of Russia against Ukraine in the area of Kerch Strait - and, consequently, the escalation of the situation with the security in Sea of Azov and the Black Sea during the meeting with Mogherini.
Besides, the parties discussed the situation in Donbas and prospects of the beginning of the UN peacekeeping mission in the support of the implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
The sides also discussed the issues of the further ways of the sanction policy against Russia for the disruption of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. The remaining topics were the support of the EU assistance in the security and defense sector of Ukraine, and further implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
As we reported, the official representatives of the EU member states approved sanctions against nine people responsible for the organization of the so-called elections in Eastern Ukraine.
