As Ukraine launched the new model of the electric energy market, it opens a good window of opportunities for Ukraine's electricity consumers who now will be able to get services by competitive prices. Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Ihor Nasalyk commented on this event; the comment may be found on the website of the Ministry.
UNN news agency also quoted the Minister who said the following: "Today, July 1, an essential stage of implementation of the reform of the state's energy system. The full-fledged launch of the new model of electric energy is being launched. In this regard, I'd like to make two important points: firstly, the market is aimed at the consumer, and it lets every consumer choose the actual supplier of electric energy; secondly, we live up to the commitments that we took before the [European] Energy Community, creating the opportunity of integration with the European energy market, which boosts the energy security of our state", the Minister said.
The Minister also claimed that his office largely contributed to the development of the legal basis for the successful start of the market, and protection of all its members, suppliers and consumers alike. He admitted that the government made all the necessary decisions so that the electric energy prices do not go up.
The introduction of the energy market in Ukraine is an obligatory measure, a part of Ukraine's obligations within the implementation of the third EU packaged. It is also one of the conditions of Ukraine-IMF cooperation, and the condition of the EU assigning the 500 million Euro loan of macro-financial aid for Ukraine in 2019. The Ukrainian Parliament passed the respective law in 2017; the document foresees that the market should be launched on July 1.
