The Ukrainian medical system is designed for simultaneous admission of no more than 3.5 thousand patients who are infected with COVID-19. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Health and Chief State Sanitary Doctor Viktor Lyashko, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.
"And our capacity, which we counted on and which we adhere to - simultaneous stay of no more than 3.5 thousand patients in intensive care units," Lyashko said.
According to him, it is also possible to treat people from heart attacks, strokes and other urgent conditions under this load of Ukrainian hospitals.
At present, Ukraine is implementing a scenario, which provides that no more than 2% of citizens are infected with COVID-19.
As we reported earlier, Ukrainian hospitals may receive domestic-made ventilation devices.
According to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian hospitals will receive hundreds of devices in the coming weeks.
"The cost of such ventilators is several times less than foreign equipment. We can better provide our doctors and save more lives," the president said.
