The contract between Ukraine and the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech for the supply of the vaccine against Covid-19 stipulates that it must be at least 70% effective. This was announced by Health Minister Maksym Stepanov during a briefing.

According to the minister, the Chinese company should publish the final results of clinical trials on January 7 after the completion of the third phase of research, which is currently underway in Brazil.

"Our contract stipulates that the vaccine must be at least 70% effective," Stepanov said.

As we reported earlier, Indonesian pharmaceutical company Bio Farma claimed that the efficiency of the Sinovac company's vaccine still could not be defined.

Nevertheless, preliminary data showed 97-percent efficiency.

"Bambang Heriyanto, an official at Bio Farma, said efficacy cannot be determined at this time, and it was necessary to wait for complete data. Bio Farma had said earlier on Tuesday that clinical trial results showed the vaccine has 97% efficacy. Sinovac said last month that 97% of healthy adults in one of the groups that received two shots of a lower dosage in its Phase I-II trial showed antibody-related immune response after taking its experimental COVID-19 vaccine," reads the message.
