Tomorrow, on September 29, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (CCU), will consider the constitutionality of the law on the land sale market. This was reported by the CCU’s press service.

The Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine will consider the case on the constitutional petitions of 48 Ukrainian MPs on the constitutionality of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Conditions of Circulation of Agricultural Lands’ of March 31, 2020,” reads the message.

The consideration will take place in the open part of the plenary session.

It is noted that the petitioners claim that the adoption of the law by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was conducted with the violation of the constitutional procedure for consideration and adoption, and its provisions contradict the provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine.

As we reported earlier, the above-mentioned law was adopted on March 31, 2020: 259 MPs voted in its favour.

According to its regulations, foreigners and legal entities, the founders or ultimate beneficiaries of which are foreigners, will be able to buy land only subject to approval by referendum. In all other cases, it is not possible to acquire property rights.
