The Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecution (SAP) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) are preparing a filing to strip the leader of Radical Party Oleh Lyashko of his deputy’s immunity. Ukrainian News agency reported this with the reference to their sources in law enforcement bodies.
“The documents on the stripping of the deputy’s immunity are being prepared,” the source informed.
It is noted that Oleh Lyashko is to be held criminally responsible for declaring false information and illegal enrichment.
Other details were not disclosed and both the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecution and the Anti-Corruption Bureau are not commenting this information.
As it was reported earlier, Ukraine’s Constitutional Court recognized the bill presented by 158 MPs on the congressional immunity constitutional. The decision on the case was made on June 6 and the text of the document was made public on June 7.
It should be noted that it is about a bill №6773 on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine concerning the cancellation of the congressional immunity, which 158 MPs have presented in the Parliament last summer.
This document suggests cancellation of some articles of the Constitution, which provides the MPs with the immunity. Besides, the articles provide for the impossibility of bringing the MP to the prosecution without Parliament’s approval.
It is remarkable that the Parliament can consider the bill after the Constitutional Court approves it according to the articles of the Constitution on the impossibility of the amendments in the Constitution at a war or emergency state.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Parliament asked the Constitutional court to estimate the constitutional validity of the bill on the cancellation of the congressional immunity presented by 158 MPs in autumn of 2017.
