Ukraine's Ambassador summoned to Armenian MFA after statement about tensions on Armenia-Azerbaijan border

Ukrainian ambassador Ivan Kuleba has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, as the Ukrainian side stated tension on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The press department of Armenian Foreign Ministry posted this on July 14.

Shavarsh Kocharyan, the Minister hosted Kuleba at the Ministry. The Armenian side provided their evaluation of the situation that occurred there during the weekend. Specifically, the Armenian official also informed the Ukrainian diplomat of Azerbaijan's aggressive actions, such as ceasefire violations, attacks on civilian infrastructure, and attacks on unarmed civilians.

Last weekend, Azerbaijan and Armenia reported an armed collision on their common border. Major General of Azerbaijan's army lost his life in that fight, while Armenia lost two officers as well.

On July 13, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry urged the sides to pay maximum effort to bring the situation back to normal and seek ways to solve the conflict in a peaceful manner. "The Ukrainian side upholds political solution of the situation, based on keeping the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Azerbaijani Republic within its internationally recognized borders", reads the message.
