Ukraine has withdrawn two diplomats from the composition of the statutory bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) according to the order of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The press service of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry claimed this as Ukrainian News reported.
The Foreign Ministry has specified that Ukraine fully participated in the work of three CIS statutory bodies – States Leaders Council, Government Heads Council and Foreign Ministerial Council until 2014, regardless it has not signed CIS Charter earlier.
After 2014, the Ukrainian has stopped the participation in the activity of these bodies.
As it is known Ukraine also had some quota posts in the CIS coordination bodies: Executive Committee (the deputy chairman of the Executive Committee, CIS executive secretary, Legal Department director, deputy director of economic cooperation department), however, it withdrew all representatives in 2014.
As it was reported earlier, on April 12 Petro Poroshenko stated that he indented to present a bill on termination of certain articles of the agreement on friendship with Russia.
The President also called the Cabinet of Ministers for suspending the participation in the Commonwealth statutory bodies and supported the withdrawal of Ukraine’s representation in the relevant institutions in Minsk. Later, Iryna Lutsenko, the people’s deputy from Petro Poroshenko Bloc, the President’s representative in the Parliament, stated that Ukraine would not denounce a series of agreements within CIS, including those on diplomas’ recognition, recruitment and transit.
Later Poroshenko also claimed that Ukraine will reconsider all international agreements with the CIS.
