By the end of 2021, Ukraine will receive another 17 million doses of coronavirus vaccine from Pfizer. However, vaccinations need to be done now and with the drug that is available in the centers and vaccination points, said the chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine, Deputy Minister of Health Igor Kuzin in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“You need to be vaccinated as soon as possible and with the vaccine that is now avaliable. I have never advised and will not advise waiting for the opportunity to choose a vaccine. Indeed, for example, by the end of the year Ukraine will receive another 17 million [doses] of Pfizer. However, an outbreak may occur earlier than there will be an opportunity to choose, "Kuzin said.
He also said that it is planned to vaccinate more than 50% of the population by the end of the year.
"By the end of autumn, we have a goal to get 10 million vaccinations, that is, to vaccinate 5 million people," the official said.
Earlier, Viktor Lyashko denied rumors about a shortage of Pfizer vaccines for the second vaccination in Kyiv. The Pfizer vaccine arrives every week, he said. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health plans to accelerate the vaccination of the population, increasing the rate to 1 million vaccinations per week.
