The President of Ukraine stated that Ukraine is a unitary state and it will not take external pressure, which try to change the country’s structure, as Poroshenko said at the YES forum, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
“All my life I remembered 9-12 February, 2015, when the negotiations lasted for 19 hours without breaks. French President Hollande described the atmosphere at that night in Minsk exactly as it was. We made a document which has the commitments of the sides, - Russia has to take its troops back from the occupied territories, Russia has to take all the tanks, artillery, heavy weapons, and illegal armed formations. Russia has to create dangerous backgrounds for the launch of a political process. Ukraine is a unitary state and it will never take external pressure, which will try to change the structure of our state. Neither Russia, nor Moscow, nor Brussels, nor Washington will decide what way Ukraine follows. It’s a sovereign right of all the Ukrainians,” Poroshenko said.
The President noted that after the fulfillment of Minsk Agreements Ukraine is obliged to hold fair and free local elections.
“We are ready to start local elections right after all the conditions and demands of the security are fulfilled. We have been waiting for this from the Russian side four years, yet no step was made. Instead, we hear talks about illegal fake elections on the occupied territories,” he noted.
Reportedly, Poroshenko held a meeting with Kurt Volker, U.S. Special Representative. They discussed situation in Donbas.
