In case of the Russian Federation’s defeat in the International Court of Justice, Ukraine will demand compensation for the financing of terrorism and racial discrimination in Crimea. It was stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Olena Zerkal in the interview with 24 Channel.
Zerkal noticed that the ruling of the International Court of Justice in this case may be known in 2020.
"Of course, we do not know where Russia will be in 2022, where we will be, and what will be happening in the world. But after that, we can, but I think we must raise the issue of compensation after the ruling on damages caused by Russia's financing of terrorism in Ukraine is passed," she said.
According to the Deputy Foreign Minister, the compensation will apply not only to the financing of terrorism but also to racial discrimination in Crimea.
"I am more than sure that all the facts that we put in the memorandum on racial discrimination in Crimea will also find their confirmation and will be considered by the court as a violation," Zerkal added.
As we reported earlier, Ministry of Defense of Ukraine considers the return by Russia of the Nikopol, Berdyansk and Yana Kapu vessels captured in November last year as the implementation of the May decision of the International Maritime Tribunal. Andriy Zagorodniuk announced it on Facebook
“The return of boats and a tugboat is not an act of goodwill. I see these events as nothing more than the implementation by the aggressor state of the May decision of the International Maritime Tribunal,” - Zagorodniuk wrote.
