Ukraine plans to invite Russia to participate in negotiations on the de-occupation of Crimea. This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Emine Dzhaparova.

"We are looking for an appropriate form of invitation. We believe that this is the number one country that should participate in such formats because this is the country that occupied Crimea. Thus, it is fully responsible for the situation in Crimea, in particular for the protected population - 2.5 million citizens of Ukraine," Dzhaparova noted.

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced the holding of the Crimean Platform summit in May 2021.

As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine would create the Crimean Platform to protect the rights of Crimean citizens and de-occupy the peninsula.

"You can post funny memes about the guarantees of the Budapest Memorandum as much as you want, but it will not help return our territories. We are looking for new, effective tools in order to get this done. We have returned the Crimean issue to the international agenda. We are creating the Crimean Platform format. This is a coordination of the international efforts set to protect the rights of Crimeans and guarantee the de-occupation of the peninsula," Zelensky stated.
