President Petro Poroshenko welcomed the first results of the work of Ukrainian-American Commission for Strategic Partnership, calling them encouraging, as he wrote on Facebook.
Poroshenko thanked the U.S. President and Secretary of State for "a reliable support arm and unshakable solidarity with Ukraine."
“A reliable foundation has been laid for increasing the success of our bilateral cooperation in the political, security, defense, investment, economic, and energy sectors,” the president noted.
"The evidence of this is also a joint statement on the results of the meeting, which opens up broad horizons of partnership - from jointly countering Russian aggression and strengthening the policy of international sanctions against the Kremlin, supporting NATO integration - to strengthening trade relations, increasing investment, strengthening military cooperation, and countering Russian energy expansion," said the president.
He noted the importance of recognizing the progress of Ukraine in implementing reforms and strengthening defense capabilities, as well as confirming Washington’s commitment to support of Ukraine. Never in history have Ukrainian-American relations been so strong, productive, and promising,” the Ukrainian President emphasized.
Earlier the United States condemned Russia's aggressive actions in the Sea of Azov. This was said in a joint statement of the Ukraine-U.S. Strategic Partnership Commission, published on the Ukrainian Embassy website.
"The United States condemned Russia's aggressive actions against international sea carriers moving along the Black and Azov Seas and through the Kerch Strait to Ukrainian ports. Both sides stressed that Russia's aggressive activities in the Sea of Azov created new security issues, economic, social and environmental threats to the whole Azov-Black Sea region," as said in a statement.
