Ukraine will continue trying to send its warships through the Kerch Strait. Secretary of the NSDC Oleksandr Turchynov stated this having answered the question of whether the Ukrainian military vessels would attempt to pass through the Kerch Strait, reports BBC News Ukraine.
‘Yes. It is a fundamental matter for us. If we stop and give up then Russia would effectively complete its mission on capturing the Sea of Azov and present to the world self-determined new sea borders in the Black Sea, de facto legalizing the occupation of Crimea,’ Turchynov advised this and added that the transfer will be possible in the nearest future.
He said that things need to be done now.
‘We offer our partners to take part in the passage from the Ukrainian Black Sea ports to the Ukrainian ports on the Azov coast. We will invite OSCE representatives and other international organizations,’ the Secretary noted.
Turchynov said that the presence of OSCE representatives on the Ukrainian vessels is necessary to prove the world that Ukraine and its sailors do not violate any law and international regulations.
