Ukraine intends to further to extend the cooperation with the EU for development of the state and gain membership in the EU. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko claimed this at the meeting with the representatives of the native and foreign business in Kyiv as the press center of the Ukrainian leader reported.
‘We will extend our cooperation with the EU. I think that we can enter the Schengen Area. I believe that we can enter the EU Customs Union. I believe that we can enter the United Energy Union. I believe that Ukraine will be a member of the European Common Aviation Area’, Poroshenko said.
‘This is the steps before the membership in the EU and NATO will be open for us. But we have to insistently and effectively work together to match the criteria’, he noted.
The president called the support of his initiative on the cancellation of the payment for the roaming charges for the Ukrainian citizens in the EU to be one of the examples of the extension of the cooperation between Ukraine and the EU. ‘This initiative that I promoted a year ago was supported by the European Parliament a few days ago and was added to the list of the projects for the Eastern Partnership summit that will take place in Brussels’, Poroshenko emphasized.
