Ukraine’s armed forces successfully tested a new strike drone. Oleksandr Turchynov, the Secretary of National Defense and Security Council said that after the tests, conducted at a firing range in northern Ukraine on Thursday.

‘The reconnaissance strike complex Sokil, which we have tested today, consists of one recon and three strike vehicles, so it is capable of searching and destroying its targets; it can use high-explosive or thermobaric ammunition, depending on the mission,’ he said.

According to Turchynov, the tests were conducted under complicated weather conditions, amidst strong gusts of wind, up to 17 meters per second. ‘Despite these problems, the drones managed to hit the targets’, he said.

The official added that Sokil is a product of successful cooperation of Ukrainian and Polish enterprises. ‘Now that the tests proved successful, we’re going to make the next step, which is putting them into service,’ Turchynov concluded.
