Biometric control on Ukraine-Russia state border started working on Wednesday morning. So far, the regime is running in the test mode. Ukraine’s State Border Guard reported this, claiming that the mobile stations with biometric control mechanisms will be set on the border checkpoints with the most powerful traffic.
‘On December 27, we’ll try to use these mechanisms in various sections of the Ukraine-Russia state border; we’ll be testing it and check if everything is ready for the full-fledged launch on January 1,’ said Oleg Slobodyan, spokesman of the State Border Guard.
According to the official, Russian citizens will not be able to cross the checkpoint if they try entering Ukraine from the militant-controlled area of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The biometric control procedure does not concern the Ukrainian citizens who reside in the occupied Crimea and cross the checkpoint on the administrative border with mainland Ukraine.
