The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine temporarily suspends the work of the checkpoint on border with annexed Crimea. Entry and exit will be prohibited from 9 August. This decision was made by the government during an extraordinary meeting, said the Minister Oleh Nemchinov.
"This is due to the instruction of the President to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to revise the operation of the checkpoints on the border with temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The decision is aimed at preventing the spread of acute respiratory disease Covid-19 in Ukraine", wrote Oleg Nemchinov.
The work of checkpoints will be stopped from 8:00 on August 9 to 8:00 on August 30 this year.
The checkpoint will only allow the passage of Ukrainians and their family members:
- whose place of residence is registered in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea or the city of Sevastopol, as well as their vehicles, cargo and other property - for entry;
- whose place of residence is registered outside the Autonomous Republic of Crimea or the city of Sevastopol, as well as their vehicles, cargo and other property - for departure;
- who agreed to self-isolation from the moment of crossing the checkpoints of entry into the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and leaving it;
- persons in order to ensure the protection of national interests or in connection with the implementation of international obligations, representatives of diplomatic institutions and humanitarian missions who leave the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as their vehicles, cargo and other property.
The departure from the annexed Crimea and Sevastopol of other categories of foreigners and stateless persons will be carried out in agreement with the Ministry for the reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories. Departure from Crimea and entry of Ukrainians, if there are humanitarian grounds, will be carried out by the decision of the head of the State Border Service.
On August 8 (as of 9:00) in Ukraine 79,750 laboratory-confirmed cases of Covid-19 reported. Of these, 1,879 were lethal, 43,655 patients recovered. 1489 new cases were recorded per day. A total of 1,154,378 PCR tests were performed. In total, 600 patients were discharged per day.
