Ukraine suspects Russian citizen of torturing Ukrainian servicemen in Donbas

Office of Prosecutor General of Ukraine informed a Russian national of suspicion of torturing captured Ukrainian troops in Donbas. The press office of the authority reported that on August 5.

"A serviceman of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation has been notified of suspicion of breaking the laws and customs of war (Part 1, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)", reads the message.

In summer 2014, the Russian citizen who served as a regular officer of the Russian military intelligence provided control over the illegal prisons of DNR terrorist organization, which was located in Snizhne, Donetsk region.

The pre-trial investigation showed that the Russian officer mistreated the captured servicemen of Ukraine's military; he punched and kicked them and imitated firing executions in order to oppress their morale.
