The soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will participate in the renewed mission of NATO in Iraq as TSN reported citing Defense Minister of Ukraine Andriy Zahorodniuk.

“We clearly stated that we will. The possibility of it is quite high. All countries, which have something to do with it, stated that they support it. For us, it is strategically important. We are interested in our participation in the great number of programs with NATO,” Zahorodniuk said.

The desire of Ukraine to join the future mission in Iraq is spotted in the document signed by NATO.

According to the Defense Ministry, the minister at the session of training and advisory NATO Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan stated that Ukraine will continue to support the efforts of coalition troops in the peace settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan by a diplomatic way.

Zahorodniuk supposed that more resources will be deployed to Iraq as the extension of the mission in Afghanistan is not supposed.

NATO states have not decided yet when the mission in Iraq would be restored.

Earlier, Defense Minister Andriy Zahorodniuk stated that he expects that in October 2020 Ukraine will join the NATO Enhanced Opportunity Plan.
