Premier Vice-Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, Representative of Ukraine at Humanitarian Subgroup of Trilateral Contact Group Iryna Gerashchenko deems it appropriate to move the talks venue from Minsk to Astana. Gerashchenko claimed this on her Facebook page after the last session of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk.
‘Regular voting of Belarus at the UN General Assembly in unison with the Russian Federation on resolutions relating to the issues of Crimea, Donbas, human rights in the occupied territories, is contrary to the stated position of Minsk neutrality. It is more like a pro-Russian position. This is exceptionally my opinion but, probably, peace talks should be moved to a truly neutral country,’ Gerashchenko claimed.
She noted that in this context, Kazakhstan’s vote for the resolution on the demilitarization of the Azov and Black Seas is significant and important for her.
‘For the first time, Kazakhstan refrained, and this is a real neutral position. Maybe we should really move the negotiations venue to Astana?’ the Representative of Ukraine at the Trilateral Contact Group claimed.
In addition, she noted that the last meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group this year was unsuccessful due to the destructive position of the Russian Federation and the militants.
