During 2022-2023, Ukraine should equip a state border with Russia and Belarus. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denys Monastyrsky, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
"The state will make every effort and finance to finally equip sections of the border with Russia and Belarus. Next year there will be a big construction of borders. These are engineering structures made by specialists, and, in general, a new intellectual technics, which will enable border guards to 100% control the borders of our country. In addition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will focus on ensuring good conditions of service," said Denys Monastyrsky.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also noted that 17 billion hryvnias (616 million USD) are needed for the complete arrangement of the borders. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has already asked the government to include these figures in the 2022 budget.
“Today I saw a completely different level of border development. This is an intellectual border that requires minimal human intervention. And even from Kyiv, you can track the violation of the state borders. But we still have thousands of kilometers of old unequipped borders, "said Monastyrsky.
This is especially true in the context of new migration challenges caused by the crisis in Afghanistan and Belarus's actions towards its neighbors from the EU: Poland and the Baltic countries.
