Ukraine has a lot of other problems it should be taking care of, instead of blocking the broadcasting of 112 Ukraine, ZIK and NewsOne TV channels. Miroslav Radačovský, the member of the European Parliament said so, commenting on the commented on the recent shutdown of Youtube channels of Ukrainian opposition media.
"As a Slovakian MP, I definitely stand against the government- or president-induced blockade of any media or president. It's impossible. One can only ban the media when they promote terrorism or murders, or something like that. But there's one thing that surprises me; as is known, our brotherly Ukraine has problems with Covid, there are problems with the economy, and there's an issue in eastern Ukraine. If there are so serious problems in your country, then why Mr. Zelensky decided to deal with the media? I don't get it. I only understand it is a political case. And I definitely stand against it", Radačovský said on air of Pershy Nezalezhny TV channel.
He also said he did not understand why the Ukrainian government was dealing with closure of TV channels at this particular time.
"(...) No one likes the fact that your biggest issue is a TV channel. You've got a lot of other problems, not TV channels. TV channels of all sorts should be there - opposition TV channels and others, too. When Mr. Zelensky was a showman or an actor, I though he was a serious man. But it was a joke for him. He said one thing during the election, and he says other things now. I don't know if that's trans-Atlantic influence, but I really don't get it", he said.
