The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine commented on the withdrawal of the US from the UN Council for Human Rights (UNCHR). Particularly, Ukraine shares the U.S. position on the efficiency of work of the UNCHR. Serhy Kyslytsia, the Deputy Foreign Minister claimed this as the press service of the ministry reported.
"We understand the position of the US and its concern toward the efficiency of the UNCHR's work. The decision of the US on the early termination of the membership in the Council was not unexpected. More than a year ago, the US claimed about the negative tendencies in the UN work on human rights protection at one of the UN Security Council sessions," he said.
According to Kyslytsia, Ukraine claimed many times that it shares the opinion on the importance of the taking into account the human rights element in all directions of the UN work.
"In 2018 Ukraine became the member of the UN Council for Human Rights, understanding and objectively estimating the existent problems and disadvantages of its works and we intend to work on the reforming of the Council. Certainly, for our state the UNCHR will remain to be one more place for the protection of the Ukrainians' rights suffering from the criminal actions of Russia in the result of its aggression against our state, the occupation of Crimea and part of the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions," he said.
