In the context of the implementation of plans for the return of Crimea, Ukraine seeks to provide further support for relations with its citizens who remained on the peninsula. This was stated by Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korinevych on June 28 on the air of Krym.Realii radio.

"Ukraine is trying as best as possible to ensure the preservation of relations with its citizens in Crimea, as often as possible to raise the Crimean issue in the international arena and comprehensively process sanctions against Russia - both domestically and with various international bodies. Ukraine protects the rights of Crimeans," Korinevych explained Ukraine’s policy towards Crimea, answering the question of what measures are being taken to return the peninsula.

As an example, he spoke about the government’s work with Crimeans during a pandemic.

In particular, when the entry-exit checkpoints on the administrative border with Crimea were closed due to quarantine, the Ukrainian authorities processed about two thousand requests from Crimeans. With the assistance of the Kherson Regional State Administration, access to wireless Internet was provided at checkpoints to download the "Act at Home" app. The Cabinet helped to establish additional equipment to improve the signal.

"In short, we were one of the main bodies that helped Crimeans during this difficult time of the coronavirus pandemic. We are always open to citizens' appeals. There is a lot of work, but we all have an understanding that this work can ultimately lead to a big goal," said the representative of the president.

In addition, Korinevych emphasized that Ukraine is now conducting "very active diplomatic work at various international venues" regarding Crimea. The official assured that the issue of returning the peninsula to Ukraine will not be removed from the international agenda, and the civilized world will never recognize a change in the status of Crimea.

The annexation of Crimea by Russia occurred after an illegal referendum on March 16, 2014. Neither Ukraine nor most countries of the world recognized the change in the status of the peninsula and its illegal inclusion in the Russian Federation.
