Ukraine's law enforcers finished working on the section of the borderline between Ukraine and Russia in Kharkiv region. The Interior Ministry reported that on Thursday evening, quoting Deputy Minister Vadym Troyan.
'In Kharkiv region, the borderline section's length makes 270 kilometers; we equipped 220 of these. This year, all works will be completed. The next stage of the works will focus on the Sumy section. The process began as we coordinate our efforts with the local authorities', he said.
He added that the works continue 'despite all actions by pro-Russian forces'.
The said works are due to the 2014 decree by the Ukrainian cabinet; the project called 'The Wall' includes construction of trenches and other defense objects.
According to the State Border Guard, since the beginning of the year, about 6.3 million foreign citizens have crossed the Ukrainian border.
The report says that annually, the authority spots an increase of the passenger flow across the ground, air and sea-based checkpoints on the Ukrainian border.
'To compared with, in 2014, border guards allowed about 13 million foreigners to cross the border of our country; in 2017, the number of foreign citizens exceeded 14.6 million', the State Border Guard marked.
