Ukraine is ready to exchange 25 Russian citizens for 25 Ukrainians in the near future. Lyudmyla Denisova, the Parliamentary Envoy for Human Rights posted this on Facebook.
'I confirmed the readiness of the Ukrainian side to provide the free access to the facilities governed by the State Criminal and Executive Service of Ukraine... so that Moskalkova may visit the detained Russian citizens, under the condition of my simultaneous access to the detained Ukrainian in Russia and on the Crimean peninsula. In particular, I urged for an immediate solution of exchanging 25 Ukrainian citizens for 25 citizens of the Russian Federation. We're ready to conduct the exchange in the near future', Denisova said.
Previously, we reported that about 70 Ukrainians are held in Russia and the annexed Crimea. 24 among them were servicemen, who had been detained near Crimea by the Russian militants. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated this, according to Radio Freedom.
“Over 70 citizens of Ukraine had been detained by the Russian Federation Forces under falsified politically motivated accusations till February, 6. At least 30 persons are kept on the Russian territories (without taking into account those 24 servicemen of Ukrainian Naval Forces, detained near Kerch Strait) and over 40 persons are kept on the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Sevastopol”, the Ministry reported.
