Ukraine has decided to order three new An-178 transport aircrafts from Antonov State Enterprise. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, this will be the first time since Ukraine declared its independence, the press service of the President's Office reports.
"For the first time since Ukraine declared its independence, the state has ordered three new Ukrainian An-178 aircraft from Antonov that will be given to the army," Zelensky said.
Zelensky noted that many international partners were showing significant interest in the enterprise’s aircrafts, in particular in military transport models.
An-178 can be used to deliver personnel, weapons, and light military equipment by landing and parachute methods as well as to transport goods.
As we reported earlier, in November, Ukraine's state-run defense concern Ukroboronprom claimed that there were facts of internal sabotage among the staff of Antonov aircraft plant.
These facts became known thanks to the forensic audit conducted by Ernst&Young company.
