Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the attempts of any contacts with the so-called republics of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. This was stated by the Ministry's Press Secretary Kateryna Zelenko regarding the pronouncements about involvement of Temporarily occupied and uncontrolled territories of Ukraine in the Normandy Format, the press service of the Ministry reports.
"Such contacts, albeit disguised as ‘mediation’, in no way contribute to peace, but on the contrary are harmful – those that are aimed at legitimizing Russia's crimes against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and international law in general," Zelenko said.
She claims that the formula for establishing peace in Ukraine is simple – disengagement of forces and regaining control over the border.
"This position is also supported by the German Government, whose efforts to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in the Donbas are highly appreciated in Ukraine. Any provocation of apologists of Russia's aggressive policy is perceived in Ukraine as complicity in the crime," the Press Secretary emphasized.
As we reported earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel met on December 9 in Paris at the Normandy Summit.
French President Emmanuel Macron said the aides to Presidents and Foreign Ministers of the Normandy Four would prepare a new summit in four months.
"We now need to instruct the foreign ministers, as well as the Presidents' aides, to agree on political and dangerous conditions in order to complete all the prerequisites for the city elections in four months," Macron said.
