Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has stated that it does not plan to restore transport connection with Russia yet. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bondar in an interview with Ukrinform.
"Although the government has decided to gradually open Ukraine's borders, the issue of resuming connection with Russia – namely a railway and a plane connection has been suspended since 2014 - is not on the agenda yet," Bondar said.
The deputy minister also noted that the epidemiological situation in the Russian Federation was disturbing at that moment.
It is worth noting that Russia ranks third in the world in terms of the incidence of coronavirus.
"It is simply dangerous to fully restore the connection and endanger the epidemiological situation in Ukraine, as our numbers keep growing," he added.
As we reported earlier, on June 22, Ukraine opened all checkpoints on the border with Moldova and the countries of the European Union.
“This week, the work of two checkpoints resumed after the relevant decisions of the authorities of neighboring countries. So, from June 16, the Shegyni checkpoint on the border with Poland again started passing vehicles, and from June 17 people can cross the Ukrainian-Romanian border at the Solotvyno checkpoint," the report said.
