The Ukrainian government is not going to recognize the Russian passports issued to the residents of the occupied Donbas. Volodymyr Groysman, the Prime Minister said this at a regular session of the Cabinet on May 8.
'These (the IDs, - 112 International) will be considered illegitimate during the state border crossing, as well as when used on the territory of our state', Groysman said.
He added that the Cabinet will turn to other governments urging to consider such documents as fake.
Last month, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed the decree, under which the procedure of granting Russian citizenship for Ukrainians residing in the occupied sections of Donetsk and Luhansk regions has been simplified. The Russian side began to accept the appeals on May 3. First centers of processing the appeals are already opened in Russia and even in the occupied Luhansk.
