Ukraine is not anymore among the countries where systematic cases of tortures against the detainees are observed. Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko reported that as quoted by Ukrinform news agency

'Now, we are claiming that the number of tortures during detention, the number of facts of pressure applied against a person has reduced considerably. Ukraine has actually withdrawn from the black list of the countries that have systermatic problems with tortures during detention of citizens', Petrenko said.

According to him, every detained person in Ukraine has the right to get a lawyer within the two-hours-long period. No investigator or prosecutor can apply any pressure on a detained person before that, the Minister stressed.

'We currently have a very decent practice of cooperating with the new police, with the new law enforcement agencies for training the investigators; they learn how to communicate with the lawyers of the free legal assistance', Petrenko concluded.
