The Ukrainian government should create the unified register of the deceased, injured and captured reporters - those who are on duty during the military actions. Iryna Gerashchenko, the deputy speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, said that at the morning session of the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The official congratulated the Ukrainian reporters on their professional day. 'First of all, I am grateful to the war journalists who are now documenting the modern history of Ukraine, the tragic and dramatic one; I urge all executive bodies to create the unified register of injuries, fatalities, and captures of Ukrainian journalists,' she said.

On June 6, Ukrainian journalists celebrate their professional holiday. This is due to the tradition that dates back from 1992; on June 6, 1992, the country's National Union of Journalists joined the International Federation of Journalists in Brussels, as the Federation voted 'yes'.

Issues of media freedom and the role of independent journalism in the society have been extensively discussed in Ukraine.

Ukrainian reporters have been in the middle of key events in the modern history of Ukraine. Some journalists lost their lives while on duty.

Roman Sushchenko, the Ukrainian reporter, is now the political prisoner in Russia.
