Ukraine must fulfill the requirements of the resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on ensuring the rights of opposition to perform control functions. People’s Deputy from the opposition bloc Yulia Lyovochkina posted this statement on the website of the party.
"The most important achievement is an adopted amendment to protect the political rights of opposition. The Committee accepted it, the speakers agreed that the opposition's rights are violated, and call on the Ukrainian authorities to ensure that the opposition can fulfill its supervisory role and be able to offer an alternative political course", Lyovochkina said.
Also, the resolution on lustration was amended, which has been declared illegal.
"The original text of the resolution was somewhat lopsided. The meeting of the monitoring committee has passed and the resolution has changed significantly. Very many important amendments were made. Firstly, an amendment was made on lustration, which was recognized illegal, the law must immediately be changed completely with compliance with the recommendations of the Venice Commission and the European standards", the MP said.
