Ukraine needs a new decree of the elections and renewed the line-up of the Central Election Commission. For the moment these reforms are completely brought to the standstill. Hugues Mingarelli the Head of the EU delegation to Ukraine reported this during the panel discussion of the VII national expert forum ‘Growing Point’ organized by Gorshenin Institute in Kyiv on June 15. Interfax-Ukraine reported this.
‘We have to progressively further the renewal of the body politic…We need a decree of the elections and we need the new Central Election Commission to do this. I cannot understand the reasons that brought these reforms to the standstill’, Mingarelli is cited.
According to him, Ukraine has the great potential but it faces with such external challenges as the Russian aggression and internal such as the absence of the rule of law that is the main obstacle to the economic advance.
The issues of the non-exhaustive lists’ implementation and renewal of the Central Election Commission are under discussion but are not decided yet.
The terms of office of the most members of the Commission came to the end long time ago. Petro Poroshenko made a submission of the appointment of the new members to the parliament in summer 2016 but the decision is still not made.
Andriy Parubiy, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament told that this decision will be made in the near future.
Andriy Magera, the Deputy of Chairman of the Central Election Commission expressed the hope that the next election will take place with the renewed line-up of the Central Election Commission.
