Ukraine finished all events determined in the plan of the provision of the compliance to the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol. The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ostap Semerak reported this at Facebook.

‘Ukraine left non-compliance according to the Kyoto Protocol. This decision was made at the session of the Compliance Committee of the Kyoto Protocol that took place in Bonn. I do not like the mantras about the predecessors who are guilty in everything. But the news that the Compliance Committee of the Kyoto Protocol to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change made a decision on the non-compliance of the liabilities on the Kyoto Protocol by Ukraine appeared the same period of time last year’, the minister said.

Also, Semerak noted that it is the consequences of the disabling of the National electronic registry of man-made emissions and greenhouse gasses absorbing of Ukraine in August 2015.

‘Literally, it could have really severe consequences for us. We treated the Kyoto money as the resource that would be nice to master at any government during many years. The predecessors paid no mind at the reputation of the country that became worse and worse because we looked like the savages who do not keep their words and do not fulfill obligations’, the minister noted.

The Ministry of Ecology held the dozens of the negotiations and accomplished many tasks last September to confirm that ‘we are the reliable partakers of the processes on Kyoto Protocol’.

‘Firstly, Ukraine finished all events determined in the plan of the provision of the compliance to the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol. Secondly, Ukraine fulfilled all obligations on the first validity time of Kyoto Protocol. Thirdly, the Compliance Committee of the Kyoto Protocol showed that the issue of the compliance of the Kyoto Protocol requirements by Ukraine is solved’, Semerak noted.

The Kyoto Protocol is the international agreement that limits the emissions of the greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere. The main aim of the agreement is to stabilize the level of the concentration of the greenhouses in the atmosphere on the level that does not allow the dangerous man-made influence on the climate system of the planet.
