The leadership of Ukraine is currently considering convening a meeting of the United Nations Security Council if it is proved that Boeing 737 was shot down intentionally. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov said this in an interview with Censor.net.
"This is being considered. But first, we need to find out whether the attack on our plane was intentional or accidental? The direction of our actions depends on this assessment. Each diplomatic process must have its own logic and consistency," Danilov said.
The NSDC Secretary noted that the country's political strategy should be based on evidence.
"I emphasize once again: we have not yet seen that Iran deliberately crashed the Ukrainian plane. And that is not what our Western partners see," Danilov said.
However, he believes that it is not necessary to rely on the UN Security Council, which cannot help with Russian aggression. Danilov considers the organization not effective enough, and its decisions - advisory or declarative.
As we reported earlier, the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has launched a pre-trial investigation into the UIA crash in Iran under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
