On January 1, the Unified State Information System For Organ and Tissue Transplantation was officially launched in Ukraine. This was announced by Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov at a briefing.

"Ukraine has had a Unified State Information System For Organ and Tissue Transplantation since January 1. It was such a difficult challenge last year when we had to launch it on January 1. It is a crucial system, I am not talking about the security of this system. It is important from the point of view of providing medical care, from the point of view of providing transplants to people who actually need it," Stepanov said.

According to the official, the systemic development of transplantation in Ukraine would be impossible without its launch.

As we reported earlier, during 2020, 118 organs were transplanted in Ukraine, which is 40 transplantations more than in 2019.

"During 2020, 8 heart, 19 liver, 91 kidney transplantations were carried out in Ukraine. In total, 118 transplantations were carried out this year, compared to 78, done in 2019," the statement said.
