The U.S. passed Ukraine two Island-class patrol boats; during the ceremony at the Baltimore base of the U.S. Coast Guard, Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko described this as the improvement of defense cooperation among the two countries.

'Ukraine is de-facto NATO Eastern flank, and this gesture of support has boosted defense cooperation between our nations', the President said as quoted by his press service

The head of the Ukrainian state marked the importance of the current transfer by the U.S. side, calling it 'a proof of how much Ukraine matters for the future of the entire free world'.

Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Robert Karem assured of the unwavering position of the United States with respect to the firm support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Russia occupied Crimea and continues the conflict in Donbas trying to enforce the change of borders. Russian aggression is not only a threat to Ukraine. It is a threat to the whole region, Europe, the United States of America and the stability of the world order,' he said as Poroshenko's press office quoted him.
