Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Yenin predicts that Ukraine will be able to obtain compensation from Iran for the missile attack on the UIA passenger plane near Tehran within the next five years. Yenin stated this on the air of Ukraine 24 TV channel.
"It is extremely difficult to predict the further course of events, taking into account including domestic events in Iran ... Sooner or later it will all happen. Unfortunately, it is difficult for me to predict specific dates. We can refer to the current practice. The average term of pre-trial negotiations lasts from two to five years. If we talk about judicial prospects, the calendar starts from five to 10 years," the official said.
According to him, the Ukrainian side hopes to resolve this issue in the pre-trial order - all the efforts of Ukrainian diplomacy and coalition partners are being made to that end.
As we reported earlier, on January 8, Boeing 737 of Ukraine's International Airlines (PS 752 flight) with 176 passengers aboard crashed in Tehran, not far from Imam Khomeini airport.
11 citizens of Ukraine died in the crash. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the passenger plane crash in the Iranian capital had left no survivors.
