The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposes sanctions against persons who are involved in the holding of elections to the Russian State Duma on the territory of occupied Donbas and annexed Crimea. This was announced by the NSDC secretary Oleksiy Danilov during a briefing.
According to him, the sanctions will affect the participants, members of the commission, agitators and observers.
"All participants in this process, members of commissions, agitators, observers. All of them will be sanctioned. Sanctions will be applied by presidential decree in the near future," the NSDC secretary said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on foreign states and international organizations to increase political and diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation, in particular by expanding sanctions against it due to the holding of elections to the State Duma in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas and Crimea.
"We call on all states and international organizations to strongly condemn Russia's illegal actions, clearly state non-recognition of election results in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and affirm the illegitimacy of the Russian State Duma. We also call to increase political and diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation, including by strengthening sanctions," the message reads.
