Ukraine, Georgia fight for security in Europe, - Latvian Foreign Minister

Edgars Rinkēvičs, Latvian Foreign Minister, stated that now Ukraine and Georgia are fighting for independence and security in Europe, as Polskie Radio reported.

“Things happened in Georgia in 2008 and then in Ukraine convince us that we must do everything to prevent it,” he stated.

He also said that the international law and order was violated in Georgia ten years ago and the world has to remember that.

Yesterday, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry called Russia for withdrawing the troops from the occupied territories in Georgia and take steps to demilitarize and de-occupy these territories.

Today, on August 7, we reported that Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko entrusted the National Security and Defence Council to have a separate session on counterwork Russian interference in the elections. 

Poroshenko added that he was convinced that our state would prepare and would counterwork any Russia’s interference in the elections process regardless of what it would be – a cyber-attack or a disinformation campaign.
