This year Georgia and Ukraine celebrate 25 years of the resumption of the diplomatic relations between the states. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko claimed this at the briefing in Georgia after the meeting with the Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili. It was broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
‘I am very pleased to be in Georgia today when our states celebrate the 25 anniversary of the resumption of the diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Georgia. Exactly it is the resumption because we established the diplomatic relations on July 4, 1918. And now, it is 99 years of the strong diplomatic relations between our countries. We will not allow anyone to dictate the future to our great nations. It makes us much closer because the Ukrainians strongly believe that in the challenging times they can reckon on the fraternal Georgian nation as the fraternal Georgian nation can reckon on the solid support from Ukraine. It was in this way in 2008, in 2014 and it is so now’, Poroshenko noted.
The official visit of Poroshenko to Georgia will last until July 19. The Ukrainian leader already met the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, also it is planned to open the work of the business forum in Tbilisi.
Also, the President of Ukraine will visit the Autonomous Republic of Adjara where he will meet the Chairman of the Government Zurab Pataradze within the visit. The joint participation of the leaders of Ukraine and Georgia in the invest round table discussion in Batumi is also planned.
